Recently widowed Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) buys a rundown zoo, Rosemoor Animal Park, looking for a new direction for himself and his two young children. What begins as a rather impulsive fantasy turns into a daunting life-changing journey that is exciting, emotionally demanding, often hilarious but ultimately more rewarding than he could have ever imagined. With the help of devoted zookeeper Kelly Foster (Scarlett Johansson), an eclectic staff and a wondrous collection of exotic animals, the family works to return the broken-down zoo to its former glory and to heal their own pain.
